Our Family:
Bowl & Board has been a family-owned and operated business since Bill Giarrusso opened the first store in Hingham, MA in 1966. Bill always had a way of getting his family involved in his business, frequently recruiting his kids and their friends to unload boxes, stock shelves, and deliver an occasional couch on their way out of town. More than forty years later, Bill's kids play a much more prominent role in the company. His son, Mark, runs the mainland stores located in Cambridge, Brookline, and Providence (Hingham closed its doors in January 2008 after 41 years of business). Bill's daughter Maria runs the island store with her husband Gary on Martha's Vineyard. If you stop in one of the stores today, don't be shocked if you see Bill's grandkids busy at work!

Bowl & Board boasts a long history of treating our employees like family. We really think it shows in the way they interact with our customers. Bowl & Board's employees form a cohesive team that takes personal interest in the business and are fully empowered to take action to make customers happy.  

Our Merchandise:
We are constantly searching for high quality, unique products that are affordable for every lifestyle. We carry some well-known brands, up-and-coming brands, unique imported pieces, and handmade treasures from craftsmen who visit our store.

Unlike many houseware chains, our buyer does not sit in some corporate office. Instead, she is on the floor of the Cambridge store at least five days a week experiencing first-hand what customers are buying, staying alert of trends, responding to customer recommendations, and stocking shelves with a fresh selection of merchandise every day. At Bowl & Board, we believe it's much easier to stock the items our customers want than to try and convince them to buy what we want to carry.
